Honestly, I know the InterNet affords an amount of anonymity that makes being a conundrum a little passe.  I suppose, for profiling purposes, I should tell you serous things about me, so that no one feels like they're wasting their time.

The problem is, I don't want to unintentionally bait-and-switch you nice people.  Like, if I write here that, “I consider myself an amateur anthropologist/sociologist”, that doesn't mean that I'm really hoping the Secret Order of Max Weber Aficionados (SOMWA) or the local  Margaret Meadheads, #402, is going to be giving me invites to their monthly meetings and Pods.  While those groups might be legitimate and very nice, I worry that what I've done is narrowed the field too soon.  My Gmail Inbox reflects this, with piles of unread mass mailings from the Nature Conservancy and MoveOn, just because one time, it made sense to click the button and feed baby gorillas (not that I regret it).  But I never hear from the gorilla people anymore!  So I've been pigeonholed as this one guy who does this kind of thing which qualifies him for response X, which is solid blasphemy for my near-religious dilettantism.

I will talk to almost anyone.  Check that: I WILL TALK TO ANYONE, BECAUSE I'M OPEN TO HEARING NEW EXPRESSIONS AND IDEAS, EVEN IF I DON'T PARTICULARLY LIKE THEIR MESSAGE.

Current topics: media theory, globalism, farming, the Golden Age of Piracy, and hatchbacks.
